Gray Catbird

“One does not truly hear until one has listened with both ears.”

-Every Catbird I’ve ever met.

I could see the Gray Catbird on the far side of a little tree as I approached. “Hello,” I said, knowing he would be fascinated by my wise words. I had his attention now and he moved closer as I let out a little giggle. “What are you working this morning?” I asked as he switched ears and moved closer and closer until he ran out of tree. Then he replied, “Cardinal, Blue Jay, wren, sparrow, robin, aaaand cat!”
