As a world-class wilderness explorer, sometimes birding can just lack challenge for me. Take this Magnolia Warbler for instance, there’s no thought required on my part to identify this bird and, oh look at that, he’s got a cute little smudge on his chest, probably food. Hold on a minute, my technical director is trying to get my attention. She says, Turn to the next page in your Birding for Dummies field guide. What an odd thing to say, I wonder why she’s bothering me with that right now. Okay, turning the page, uhh… Northern Parula? Oh, Northern Parula! My first one!
