Pied-billed Grebe

My little Pied-billed Grebe pal was so busy foraging beneath that log that he didn’t realize I was there. This is by far the closest encounter I’ve had with this timid little grebe and he quickly moved away upon realizing he was being photographed. Some odd old nicknames for this bird include devil diver and water witch, and a group of grebes is known as a “water dance” although I think “cutie pieds” would be better.
