As I approached the water’s edge, using every ninja skill I possess, I realized something: it’s impossible to sneak up on a duck once all the leaves have come down! I thought it would be a good morning to photograph some waterfowl, however, all I saw when I got here was a bunch of fluffy butts paddling away from me! Mallards and coots; mighty geese and fearsome swans, they all left once I arrived. One bird was braver than the rest, though; this was his bog and he would defend it to the end. Or, until he realized that everyone else had paddled away while he wasn’t looking! This Northern Shoveler hung around for a bit to see what all the fuss was about before joining his fluffy friends on the other side of the bog.
