A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the Tufted Titmouse and their quest for supreme cuteness at the bog. Well, this week I give you the reigning king of cute, the Carolina Chickadee. Both birds seem to have graduated from the same charm school, as they share all the attributes one looks for in a cute bird: Looks cute, check. Sounds cute, check. Acts cute, check. Chickadees have even been known to feed out of the hands of complete strangers, take that titmouse! Today I was raking leaves when I decided to take a little break, so I was leaning against the feeder and a chickadee flew right up, chirped in my face, grabbed some food and took off. Another vote for the chickadee, but it’s too close to call for me.
