The Field Sparrow ain’t nuthin’ but a plain looking little bird, but I developed a soft spot for them years ago when I learned their population was in decline. Thankfully though, recent data suggests that they have bounced back nicely. I was browsing my archives today and realized that in most of the shots they’ve got their faces stuffed with food! They nest on the ground in tall grass and in early summer when the babies are old enough to escape, they run wild, with freaked out parents scrambling around trying to contain them! It really is quite comical.
