As a chemist by trade, I take an extremely scientific approach to gardening. Every factor is considered in my garden; soil composition, pH, moisture, sunlight. I spend countless hours running tests in my lab and, you know what, I’ve got to stop this. Here’s what I do: Stick it in the ground and see what comes up! And if it’s cool looking, I take some pictures of it. Years ago I transplanted this pathetic, dying little twig of Spirea with no hope of survival, and today it’s a proud, thriving two foot tall bush covered in pink flowers.
