I spent the better part of two years stalking the elusive Eastern Wood-Pewee. Not that they were particularly difficult to find but I just couldn’t get a shot. They would always perch right behind that little twig, or the light wasn’t right, or my camera would mysteriously lose focus. After a while it felt like they were taunting me with that cute little call. “Pee-wee”, “PEE-wee”, “PEE-WEE!” They even showed up in my back yard to taunt me some more! Finally one day they figured I’d had enough and graciously allowed me to get a single decent shot. Since then we’ve gotten along much better; they stopped calling me names and I’ve even managed a few good shots!
