Yellow-bellied Flycatcher

I was waiting for the sun to come up one morning, standing perfectly still in some prime warbler habitat when I noticed a leaf twitching at my feet. I watched in disbelief as this Yellow-bellied Flycatcher slid carefully out of the shadows to the end of a little branch. There was a leaf obstructing his view of me so I’m sure he had no idea I was there! I stood there for a bit while my newest little bird buddy gazed into the ensuing sunrise. It was the strangest thing too because it seemed like he was hypnotized by it, as if seeing one more sunrise is what inspired him to survive another long night. So now I felt as though I was invading his privacy a little bit so I backed away slowly and took a few shots. It was only then that he realized he wasn’t alone; giving me a good once over as he slowly moved back into the shadows, almost as if to say “I’m not done enjoying this sunrise yet.”
